Dream storage of 80 m2

When the square metres felt too small but the desire to move was lacking, stylist and interior designer Caroline Richter chose a smarter way - to build in storage that makes every room bigger. With Elfa’s customised solutions, the family gets space for both everyday life and dreams.

Fredrik, Estrid, Caroline and Bill.

Storage became the key to staying

Caroline and Fredrik live with their children Bill and Estrid in a charming 80-square-metre terraced house. A few years ago, they actually felt like they had grown out of the house. But the area is perfect, the children have their friends here and everyday life flows.

Instead of moving, the family decided to make a total change to their home with storage as the key.

For us, good storage is about more than order. It’s about freeing up space for what’s important," says Caroline.

The hall became the starting point

The small hall used to have a standard wardrobe that did not make optimal use of the space. With Elfa’s sliding door wardrobe - customised from wall to wall and floor to ceiling - they got a new place and a more stylish impression. The fact that the doors are painted in the same colour as the wall provides an almost invisible and elegant solution.

The old radiator was replaced with a vertical one, which gave more heat and space for smarter storage in the hallway.

We love our area. With Elfa, we were able to organise our things instead of packing moving boxes.

When storage makes your home grow

On the upper floor, Caroline and Fredrik’s walk-in closet was transformed into her daughter Estrid’s room and instead they built a new wardrobe in the bedroom, as cleverly planned and painted in the same tone as the walls.

The result is a home that grows with the family without the need to move.
