When planning in Elfa Planner, the design tool has a choice where you can choose a solution with wire shelf with a closet rod underneath. The tool will automatically add closet rod holders when planning such a solution.
* Do not use a closet rod of more than 905 mm width (W: 90 / 3') without adding a supporting closet rod holder in the center.
* If you are planning a solution with sliding doors, be sure to leave sufficient space between the interior and the sliding doors, to have space for the hanging clothes. In a system based on D: 40 / 16", we recommend at least 550 mm (21-5/8") measured from the back wall to the sliding doors.
Choose as long of a closet rod as possible.
When joining closet rods, each closet rod will need to be cut down by 10 mm (3/8”).
If a closet rod is positioned in a mid section, it needs to be cut down by 18 mm (6/8”) to be able to be joined inside the closet rod holders.
Note: if the outer Closet Rods aren't cut, there will be an outstick, unless rods are cut 10 mm (3/8”).

You need the following for installation: Metal saw (if cutting the closet rod)
Before you start: Install the brackets and the closet rod holders. Also install closet rod end caps where needed.
Step 1: Once the closet rod holder is installed, firmly press the closet rod into the holder to lock it in place.
Note:
If you place the closet rod under a shelf high up in the system, make sure the joint in the closet rod is facing upwards.
If you place the closet rod lower in the system, make sure the joint is facing downwards.
This is to make the joint as “invisible” as possible.
When installing closet rods that share a holder:
First install the connected rods in the centre of the closet rod holder, then place the outer ends into the other holders.
Only insert closet rod end caps into the “unconnected” ends of each closet rod.
Do not insert end caps into the connected ends – this will create a gap.
Cutting the closet rod:
Closet rods can be cut to fit sections outside standard widths.
By cutting the closet rod according to the solution dimensions, it can be adjusted to fit perfectly against a wall.
Use a metal saw for a clean cut.
Note: When connecting more than three closet rods, the rods must be cut so that the joint is positioned in the centre of the closet rod holder.
