Storage inspiration for every room – with smart solutions that combine style and function. Create a home where every surface becomes a storage opportunity.
Upgrade your garage organization with the versatile Garage+ top track. This essential component serves as the backbone of the system, providing support for the standards. Easily mounted on the wall, it ensures flexibility and minimizes wall holes. Customize your setup by choosing from different widths and the option to cut. Pair with a top track cover for a polished appearance.
The top track is the foundation of the system and attaches to the wall horizontally. Top tracks are made from high strength steel and are attached to the wall with screws and/or screws and anchors.
There are two "lips" on the top track onto which the standards attach. These two attachment points prevent standards to move out of the track. There is also a safety function - "end stops" - in either end of the top track, preventing hang standards to move out sideways.
The weight of a loaded system pulls the standards down securely onto the top track, and presses them back against the supporting wall, increasing stability and durability at the same time.
The bore holes in the top track are oval - width 20 mm (6/8”) and height 7,2 mm (2/8”) for easier positioning towards studs etc.
The amount of screw holes per top track width are:
641 mm (25-1/4"): 5 screw holes
936 mm (36-7/8"): 7 screw holes
1248 mm (49-1/8"): 9 screw holes
1855 mm (73"): 13 screw holes
Use a top track cover to cover the screw holes in the top track.

The minimum placement (measured from the underside of the top track) from the ceiling is 57 mm (2-1/4"), to ensure that there is sufficient space to be able to hang in hang standards.
The widths of the top tracks are designed to fit with standard section widths. Top Tracks are, however, able to be cut when designing a section which differs from the standard widths. Recommendation is to cut the joining top track on the left side in order to keep the end stop at the outer edges of the track.
When cutting a top track; make sure to make the cut a minimum 3–5 mm (1/8–1/4") from a bore hole or cut out on the upper side of the top track.
Maximum load per section is 240 kg. Do not store too much on each interior product and distribute the weight evenly across the system. Ensure the material and condition of the wall.
We recommended that the top track should be fastened to the wall with a screw in all holes in the top track.

Maximum load capacity per section: 200 kg (Classic by Elfa, click-in top-hung system) and 240 kg (Garage+/Décor+).
Avoid overloading individual storage components and distribute the weight evenly across the system. Different products have different recommended maximum load capacities. For more information, please refer to the Product Information section for each product, as well as Measure & Plan.
Before installation, check the wall material and condition. Elfa's product range is generally designed for normal use in residential indoor environments.
Care
Wipe clean with a cloth dampered with a mild cleaner. Wipe dry with a clean cloth.

You need the following for installation:
Screwdriver/drill, metal saw (if adding top tracks and/or adjusting the width), spirit level
Before you start:
Make sure you have selected the correct screw and plug for your wall type.
When installing the top track, we recommend using Elfa screw and plug. We recommend placing one screw in each hole for maximum safety.
The screw holes in the top track are oval to increase the likelihood of hitting wall studs.
Important! Be careful not to drill into electrical wiring, ventilation ducts, pipes, or other sensitive installations. If you are unsure where these are located, contact a professional electrician or plumber before drilling.
Step 1: Place the top track at the desired height and mark a hole in the centre.
Step 2: Start drilling the marked hole using a 3 mm (1/8") drill bit. If you hit a stud, continue drilling to the full depth of the drill bit. If you hit a hollow wall, enlarge the hole using a 10 mm (3/8") drill bit for drywall anchor.
Step 3: Secure the top track with a screw and tighten enough to hold it against the wall. Place a spirit level on top of the top track and adjust if necessary. Mark the remaining holes.
If you want to connect two top tracks: Start by mounting the longer section furthest to the left.
Before mounting the connecting top track, you need to saw off the stop on the left side – there is a mark 28 mm (1-1/8") from the edge on the back showing where to cut.
Use a metal saw for a clean cut.
When joining two top tracks and there is no space for overlap (e.g. wall‑to‑wall installation), the added top track must be cut (we recommend cutting the left side).
The minimum possible width for a cut top track is 184 mm (7-1/4"). In this case, the cut must be made at each end so that two screw holes remain.
When cutting a top track, make sure the cut is at least 3 mm (1/8") away from any screw hole or slot.
