Maybe you know that feeling of having a wardrobe full of clothes but nothing to wear? But that’s probably not actually the case. It’s more a lack of inspiration. As you browse the clothes rails in stylish boutiques and stores, it’s difficult not to be inspired. Mainly because of how the goods are displayed and presented. So how about trying to reproduce that boutique vibe in your home?

Create a wardrobe that is not just somewhere to keep your clothes, but is also a fount of inspiration. A wonderful space in which to start the day, which gives a visual boost and is also practical and efficient. The small walk-in wardrobe that Caroline has had built in her bedroom comprises two floor-to-ceiling glass walls that partition off part of the space.

The small walk-in wardrobe that she has had built in her bedroom comprises two floor-to-ceiling glass walls that partition off part of the space. It was this wardrobe that needed a make-over and a system that would maximise the space for storage.

Inspiration for the bedroom

One particular need stood out:

– I have a major weakness for shoes, so I desperately needed a solution that could accommodate my ever-growing collection in the wardrobe. And preferably look attractive at the same time too. I often think of my wardrobe as a sort of archive where my clothes are stored and preserved, and I was inspired by book shelves when I was creating the ideal shelving for shoes, says Caroline.

With three metres to the ceiling, it was natural to take advantage of the height and build a system that would utilise the entire space. Caroline booked a planning meeting with Elfa and provided them with the measurements of her wardrobe. One of Elfa’s storage experts could then design the most efficient layout for her.

The expert also suggested other smart solutions, like a shelf between the top and bottom wardrobe rail on which bags could be placed.

The wardrobe as part of the interior scheme

Caroline opted for Elfa’s Décor range, which is designed to blend with the rest of the interior. Elfa’s expert was able to take inspiration from a mood board that Caroline had created, with photos from shops and wardrobes that she liked. – With the new system in place, my wardrobe feels much more organised and airy. I enjoy being in here even more now. It’s important for me to have a neat and organised wardrobe and I care about looking after my things. This storage system makes that easier than ever.
