When planning in Elfa Planner, the design tool will guide you where a storage track can be placed.
The storage track can either be planned between two hang standards in a section with corresponding width or be fastened directly to the wall.
The storage track fittings use one slot in the respective hang standards it mounts in between and can not be placed next to a bracket click-in. Storage tracks can be planned next to eachother, sharing the same hang standard pair of slots.
Take into account what equipment you intend to store in the storage track, in order to determine which space you need to leave free for, for example, a shelf to be mounted underneath.

Maximum load capacity per section: 200 kg (Classic by Elfa, click-in top-hung system) and 240 kg (Garage+/Décor+).
Avoid overloading individual storage components and distribute the weight evenly across the system. Different products have different recommended maximum load capacities. For more information, please refer to the Product Information section for each product, as well as Measure & Plan.
Before installation, check the wall material and condition. Elfa's product range is generally designed for normal use in residential indoor environments.

When installing between two hang standards:
You need the following for installation: Rubber mallet.
Before you start: Install the hang standards.
Step 1: Identify which of the fittings (track standard fittings) are left and right. The left fitting has an L‑shaped tab pointing to the right when the smooth long side is facing you, and the small tab with a hole pointing upwards.
Step 2: Slide the left and right fittings into the storage track. Use a rubber mallet if needed.
Step 3: Install the storage track in the inner slots of the hang standard by angling the storage track slightly upwards so that the upper “teeth” can be inserted into the intended slots. The lower teeth will then easily fit into place when you lower the storage track.
Step 4 (depending on load): Secure the storage track to the wall with screws.
Storage track fastened with fittings in a W: 60 / 2' section
Load < 10 kg = no need to secure with a screw
Load > 10 kg = at least 1 screw placed in the centre
Storage track fastened with fittings in a B:90 / 3' section
Load < 10 kg = at least 1 screw placed in the centre
Load > 10 kg = at least 2 screws placed in the 2 central screw holes
We recommend not using the mounting method with track standard fittings in sections wider than B: 90 / 3' (>900 mm).
Note: When placing hooks on the storage track, make sure that no hooks are placed directly over the slots on the upper “lip” of the storage track.
When installing directly to the wall:
You need the following for installation: Screwdriver/drill, spirit level.
Before you start: Make sure you have selected the correct screw and plug for your wall type.
When installing the storage track, we recommend using Elfa fixings. We recommend placing one screw in each hole for maximum safety.
The screw holes in the storage track are oval to increase the likelihood of hitting wall studs.
Important! Be careful not to drill into electrical wiring, ventilation ducts, pipes, or other sensitive installations. If you are unsure where these are located, contact a professional electrician or plumber before drilling.
Step 1: Place the storage track at the desired height and mark a hole in the centre.
Step 2: Start drilling the marked hole using a 3 mm (1/8") drill bit. If you hit a stud, continue drilling to the full depth of the drill bit. If you hit a hollow wall, enlarge the hole using a 10 mm drill bit for drywall anchor.
Step 3: Secure the storage track with a screw and tighten enough to hold it against the wall. Place a spirit level on top of the storage track and adjust if necessary. Mark the remaining holes.
Note: When placing hooks on the storage track, make sure that no hooks are placed directly over the slots on the upper “lip” of the storage track.
