Planning rules

When planning in Elfa Planner, the design tool has a choice where you can choose a solution with wire shelf or wire shelf basket with a closet rod underneath. The tool will automatically add closet rod holders when planning such a solution.

Closet rod in click-in system:
* Do not use a closet rod of more than 905 mm width (W:90) without adding a supporting closet rod holder in the center.
* If you are planning a solution with sliding doors, be sure to leave sufficient space between the interior and the sliding doors, to have space for the hanging clothes. In a system based on D:40, we recommend at least 550 mm measured from the back wall to the sliding doors.

Closet rod between drawer system units:
* A closet rod can be installed either between two drawer system units or between a drawer system unit and a wall. The maximum width is 905 mm (W:90). If the distance is greater, a center holder for closet rod must be added. In this case, the closet rod can only be installed at the top of the drawer system unit.

Assembly Instructions

You need the following to assemble: Metal saw (when cutting closet rod)

Before you start: Mount the brackets.

Step 1: Place the closet rod holders in the slot underneath the bracket click-in.

Step 2: Once the closet rod holders are mounted, firmly press down the closet rod into the closet rod holders to lock it into place.

When installing closet rods that share a closet rod holder: First, install joined rods in the center of the closet rod holder, then place the outer ends into the other closet rod holders. Place closet rod end caps only into the "non-joined" ends of each closet rod. Do not add end caps to joined ends, since this creates a gap.

Cutting closet rods: Closet rods can be cut to size to fit sections outside standard section widths. By cutting the closet rod according to the solution's measurements, the rod can be adjusted to fit perfectly against a wall. Use a metal saw to create a nice cut.

Note: When joining more than three closet rods, you need to cut the rods so they are in center of the closet rod holder.
