One system, endless possibilities

For Emma and Linus, dream storage isn't about one perfectly organised room. It flows throughout the home, adapting to everyday life and whatever needs to find its place.

In the West Harbour of Malmö, they live in an apartment where raw concrete meets art, design and personal objects. Both work with ceramics, each with their own distinct style. Emma is drawn to colour, while Linus prefers natural tones.

The result is a home where things are meant to be seen, with storage becoming a natural part of the interior.

THIS IS EMMA & LINUS

A Malmö couple with a shared passion for ceramics and different creative expressions.

Name: Emma Widell and Linus Jaxin

Home: In the Ohboy buildings in the West Harbour, Malmö

Space and Elfa interior design: Décor+ in matt grey for the hallway sideboard, living room and outerwear wardrobe

One passion, two expressions

Ceramics are a natural part of Emma and Linus’s home. They share a passion for the material, but express their creativity in different ways. Emma is drawn to colour, while Linus prefers natural tones. Their own pieces sit alongside books, magazines and favourite objects, creating shelves that feel both personal and lived-in. More than storage, the shelves tell the story of the people who live here.

Where creativity takes shape

In Emma’s ceramic studio, ideas take shape. Working with clay, she creates colourful ceramics with a distinctly personal expression. That same creativity continues at home, where Emma and Linus display their own pieces alongside books, magazines and other favourite things. The shelves make room for what matters to them and help create a home that feels uniquely theirs.

A smart foundation throughout the apartment

The concrete walls set the framework for how the apartment could be furnished. From the outset, the architects installed top tracks throughout the home, creating a flexible foundation that Emma and Linus could build on. With Elfa’s system, they can adapt their storage as their needs change, without having to drill new holes in the concrete walls.

The same principle runs through every room, while each storage solution is tailored to its space and purpose.

That’s what makes the top track so versatile. Rather than treating storage as a series of separate solutions, it provides a flexible foundation that can evolve along with the home and everyday life.

Books, magazines and ceramics are displayed on the open shelving, becoming part of the interior itself.

In a small niche in the hallway, Emma and Linus have created space for outerwear and accessories. The storage has been cleverly adapted to fit around the radiator.

The long concrete wall has become a personal gallery for Emma and Linus’s favourite objects.

A hallway with room for more

At just 120 centimetres wide, the hallway makes every centimetre count.

Along one wall, Emma and Linus have created more than eight metres of storage using shelves just 30 centimetres deep. Integrated mirrors in two sections are both practical and help create a brighter, more spacious feel.

On the opposite side, a small niche makes room for outerwear and accessories, with the storage cleverly adapted around the radiator. The result is a hallway that fits in plenty of functions without feeling cluttered or cramped.

Storage that adapts to your needs

The continuous system creates flexibility throughout the apartment. Shelves can hold books today and something entirely different tomorrow. One section can be practical, while the next is more decorative.

For Emma and Linus, it’s not about creating more storage. It’s about creating a smart, flexible foundation for the whole home.

When storage becomes a gallery

In the living room, the system takes on a completely different role.

The shelving stretches along the concrete wall, creating space for both storage and display. Stylish magazines sit alongside books, art and Emma and Linus’s own ceramics.

Here, their different creative expressions come together. Colour, form and natural tones add character to the room and turn the shelving into something personal.

Perhaps that’s exactly what dream storage is: where function and aesthetics come together.

Tips for creating a personal home in a small space

  1. Let the things you love take centre stage. Personal items add warmth, character and personality to your home.
  2. Choose storage that suits your home. Flexible, customised storage helps you make the most of every space, even the ones you might otherwise overlook.
  3. Use mirrors to create a sense of space. Integrated mirrors save valuable wall space while making the room feel larger and more open.
  4. Start with a flexible foundation. The top track makes it easy to adapt your storage as your needs change.
  5. Play with surfaces and displays. A flexible system lets you adapt the shelving to what you want to store or highlight, turning storage into part of the interior design.
